Preparing for WWDC

The big show is next week, and we’re all getting ready to give talks and answer tons of questions.

The run-up to WWDC is always pretty stressful, but this year isn’t so bad. That’s partially because the show’s main focus is the iPhone. I’m still obsessing over the details of my talk, but that’s par for the course (and the same as all the other years I’ve done this).

Hopefully, there will still be one or two people who remember there’s a desktop OS and who will want to come hear about it. :)

Villa Montalvo and Sent Sovi

Today was the Villa Montalvo Food & Wine Classic. There were some fantastic restaurants and wineries there, including one of my favorites, Restaurant Sent Sovi in Saratoga, CA. All the dishes served up as samples were great. The wine was a bit more hit-or-miss this year.

After the event, we were invited to celebrate with the staff of Sent Sovi and a number of other restaurants whose staff had been invited as well. The party after the event was as good as the event itself; great people, and a lot of good food and wine.

Cooking

I’ve been trying to do some more cooking lately, and one of the places I find recipes from is Cooking for 2 (which is appropriate because that’s usually how many I’m cooking for).

The recipe for Quick Chick is a bit spicy out of the gate; if I were going to do it again, I’d probably put about 1/2 the cayenne than the recipe calls for. Of course, it has bacon in it, so it’s good from the get-go.

Welcome Akash James Sircar

Our friends Subrata and Susan went into labor early today and their son was born just a little while ago.

Congratulations you guys, and we’re looking forward to seeing all three of you soon!

WiiFit is surprisingly difficult, but fun

When Amazon sent me the pre-order email for the WiiFit, I thought about it for a second and then decided to go ahead and buy it early; if I didn’t I probably wouldn’t be able to get one after they came out.

That was a good idea and it turns out I’m having a lot of fun with it even if some of the exercises are really difficult. Turns out I need a lot of work on the whole push-up thing.

I’m looking forward to using it and also to getting my bike tuned up (that’s tomorrow). Maybe the combination of the WiiFit and the bike will get me off my lazy butt for a while.

There's a website for anything, isn't there?

Of course, right after that last post I discover this site.

Listening to the Pool Robot

…and watching the M*A*S*H marathon on TVLand. I definitely like the earlier episodes better, but anything with Sidney Freedman in it is pretty good.

Amusing who?

Clearly mostly ourselves, but apparently we’re one of the more entertaining groups at work.
